Global Football Boots Spotting - 02/04/13

With the International fixtures finally over, domestic football returned for a bumper Easter weekend. The World's top two players finding the back of the net wearing their signature boots in the ultimate Nike vs adidas battle and a whole host of custom colourways. Kick start your Champions League week with a fresh batch of SoccerBible boot-spotting...

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Nike CR Mercurial Vapor IX
When you're onto your sixth signature range of boots you know you're doing something right. Cristiano Ronaldo's latest exclusive Mercurial Vapor has a real on-pitch presence and it was no surprise to see the main man giving them a scoring debut as he rescued a point for Real Madrid away at Zaragoza.
Lionel Messi (Barcelona) adidas f50 adizero Messi
CR wasn't the only player who found the back of the net in his signature boots at the weekend. A certain Leo Messi notched for the 19th consecutive La Liga match wearing his adidas f50's as Barcelona had to settle for a 2-2 draw away at Celta Vigo.
Kevin Kuranyi (Dynamo Moscow) miadidas f50 adizero miCoach
Kevin Kuranyi has turned his hand to design to come up with a super slick miadidas colourway on his f50's. A top effort from the big German striker and a quality match for Dynamo Moscow's home kit. Kuranyi's new boots did the business as he bagged the winner in his side's 1-0 win over FC Rostov.
Marco Borriello (Genoa) Nike Mercurial Superfly II
The recent extravagant Mercurial IX colourways obviously haven't gone down well with Marco Borriello. The Genoa forward ditched his f50's at the turn of the year, dug out a pair of Nike Mercurial Superfly II's and gave them the black out treatment to generate a mean looking pair of boots. It took Borriello just 7 minutes to open the scoring in Saturday's Serie A match with Siena.
Cameron Watson (Adelaide United) Nike CTR360 Maestri III
Adelaide United's Cameron Watson is another player who looks to disagree with some of Nike's new colourway designs. The Australian full back took matters into his own hands and went to town on his CTR's with the old black pen. Not the first time we've seen this happen, if Nike brought out an all black CTR III we reckon they'd clean up!
Edgaras Cesnauskis (FC Rostov) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII
Continuing the custom boot theme was FC Rostov's Edgaras Cesnauskis. The Lithuanian winger has slapped a white out paint job on his Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII. Nothing generates a cleaner, cooler feel than a white out boot and Cenauskis' Vapors rightfully take their place in this week's boots spotting.
Kwabena Appiah-Kubi (Western Sydney Wanderers) Nike GS II
The Nike GS II was a seriously limited edition boot with only a select pool of players including Eden Hazard, Franck Ribery & Mario Gotze lacing up in them. Continuing to fly the GS II flag down under is Western Sydney Wanderers' Kwabena Appiah-Kubi. Great name, great boot, can't go wrong.
Jonas Gutierrez (Newcastle) Warrior Skreamer
Warrior have made a real go at stamping their authority on the Premier League this season. Firstly, with the Liverpool kits and secondly by putting together an impressive and ever growing group of players including Newcastle's Jonas Gutierrez. The Skreamer has split opinions in the boot world with its bold and distinctive look. But whatever you think of it, you can't deny it's eye-catching.
Roberto Pereyra (Udinese Calcio) Nike iD Mercurial Veloce IX
It's unusual to spot takedown models at the top of the game but Udinese winger Roberto Pereya has proved they're still capable of mixing it with the elite in Serie A. After wearing the Sunset Mercurial IX for the majority of the season, Pereya has decided to shake things up by designing his own unique pair of Mercurial Veloce IX boots.
Gareth Bale (Tottenham Hotspur) adidas f50 adizero
One goal and one assist in a what's fast becoming a pretty standard weekend's work for Gareth Bale. After taking his time to make the change into the new Blue/White/Pink colourway the Welsh winger has continued where he left off - running the show and banging in the goals as Spurs continued their Champions League march with a 2-1 win away at Swansea City. The Welshman is known for customising his adizero boots with the standard SprintFrame outsole, without the miCoach cavity cell.
